Poland’s government has formally asked the European Commission to fine Meta Platforms €250 million ($279 million), accusing the company of failing to effectively combat fraudulent ads on Facebook and Instagram.

An analysis by Poland’s national cybersecurity response team, CERT Polska, found that Meta failed to remove 106 of 122 reported fraudulent ads. The request will be included in the European Commission’s ongoing proceedings against Meta under the Digital Services Act (DSA), adding to regulatory pressure on the company in the region.
