Deutsche Lufthansa AG and the Vereinigung Cockpit union established a framework for arbitration and mediation to resolve ongoing labor disputes. The agreement covers pilots at Lufthansa’s main airline, Lufthansa Cargo, CityLine, and Eurowings. This deal aims to prevent future strikes that have previously disrupted operations.
Earlier labor actions over pensions and contract terms cost the airline group nearly €200 million during the first half of the year. These strikes impacted hundreds of thousands of passengers. Both parties retained exit clauses if the mediation process fails to produce a final resolution. Lufthansa confirmed the agreement in principle but withheld further details.
