Multiple law firms have issued shareholder alerts reminding investors that October 13, 2026, is the deadline to seek lead plaintiff status in a securities class-action lawsuit against HDFC Bank.
The lawsuit alleges the bank failed to disclose that it disguised certain payments as marketing expenses to pay above-market interest rates to a state-owned enterprise in exchange for large deposits. It claims the alleged conduct violated federal securities laws.
The suit says an internal investigation in March and April 2026 found several senior officials, including the CEO, responsible for the scheme. After an initial news report on May 27, 2026, HDFC’s American Depositary Shares (ADS) fell significantly.
The alerts point to potential internal control failures and legal and regulatory liabilities for the bank.
