Starting Oct. 9, 2026, Google will limit Gemini access for free users with personal Google accounts to the Flash-Lite model. They will lose access to the more capable Flash and Pro models.
The change is part of Google’s strategy to distinguish its subscription tiers and encourage upgrades. Subscribers to the entry-level AI Plus plan will also lose access to the Pro model.
AI Pro subscribers will gain the Deep Think feature, which was previously available only on the most expensive plans.
