Google Cloud introduced Gemini agent at its Gemini at Work event. The AI assistant is designed to autonomously manage and complete complex tasks for enterprise clients by working toward outcomes rather than simply following instructions.
Gemini agent is built to operate across business systems, including Google Workspace, Microsoft 365 and Slack, with the goal of streamlining workflows from a single prompt. It retains memory across devices and selects an AI model for each task, currently drawing on Google’s Gemini models and Anthropic’s Claude models.
The system also lets users create specialized coworker agents, each with its own digital identity, to collaborate on team projects. The launch adds to the competition to develop autonomous AI tools for businesses.
