General Dynamics (NYSE: GD) said its board of directors elected President Danny Deep as its next chief executive officer, effective January 1, 2027. He will succeed Phebe Novakovic, who has served as CEO since 2013. Novakovic will become executive chairman of the board.

Deep has worked at General Dynamics for 25 years and held several senior leadership roles. The company appointed him president in 2025, a move widely viewed as positioning him for the CEO role.

Novakovic cited Deep’s extensive operational experience. Both said they intend to continue working closely together. The company described the transition as a planned succession intended to maintain leadership continuity.
