TotalEnergies and its partners SOCAR and XRG have made the final investment decision (FID) on the full-field development of the Absheron gas and condensate field in the Caspian Sea. The project is expected to raise gas production to 6 billion cubic meters per annum (BCMA), supplying Azerbaijan’s domestic market and exports to Turkey.
The development will use four subsea wells and a new onshore processing plant designed to minimize emissions. It follows the first development phase, which began production in 2023.
Separately, TotalEnergies announced an FID for the Ima gas field development in Nigeria on the same day. The project is designed to supply the Nigeria LNG liquefaction plant and develop low-cost, low-emission gas resources.
