Financial technology company Fiserv has launched its Digital Asset Platform, enabling financial institution clients to use stablecoin technology for banking and payments. The platform is live, with the state-owned Bank of North Dakota as its first user.
The platform’s initial use case is Roughrider Coin, a new dollar-backed stablecoin designed to make interbank transactions more efficient for more than 90 banks and credit unions in North Dakota.
The project brings together several digital asset firms. VersaBank is the issuer and custodian, transactions are processed on the Solana blockchain, and Fireblocks provides digital asset infrastructure.
Fiserv says the platform can support capabilities such as cross-border payments and tokenized deposits, bringing blockchain technology into established payment systems.
