Eni S.p.A. shares fell for the fifth consecutive day on August 27, 2026. The Italian government is considering a windfall tax on energy firms to fund consumer fuel price cuts.

Eni stock dropped 0.7% during Milan morning trading. The shares underperformed the Milan blue-chip index.

The tax proposal has reportedly created a split within Italy's ruling coalition. Eni’s share price has decreased by more than 6% since August 20.

Investor concerns regarding profit impacts triggered the sell-off. Other Italian energy stocks also declined as sector-wide anxiety increased.
