Eni signed an agreement to acquire a 32% interest in three upstream blocks within Argentina’s Vaca Muerta basin. The acquisition includes the Meseta Buena Esperanza, Aguada Villanueva, and Las Tacanas blocks. This deal establishes a partnership with Argentina’s state-owned YPF and Abu Dhabi-based XRG.
Pending regulatory approval, YPF will maintain a 36% operating stake in the blocks. Eni and XRG will each hold a 32% share.
Production from these sites will supply the Argentina LNG integrated project. The initiative aims to export 12 million tons of liquefied natural gas annually. Exports will utilize two floating LNG units to reach international markets.
The transaction integrates Eni across the full value chain from upstream production to global supply.
