Cognizant has merged its application development, digital engineering and software testing practices into a single Software Engineering Group (SEG). The reorganization took effect on October 26 and is the company’s largest restructuring in nearly four years. It is also the largest overhaul under CEO Ravi Kumar, who took charge in January 2023.

The move responds to clients demanding greater returns on their artificial intelligence (AI) investments. SEG has three units: Industry Delivery, Frontier Capability and Application Services. Together, they are intended to form a “full-stack, AI-native organization” and accelerate software delivery in an AI-driven market.
