Salesforce is enabling its Agentforce AI platform by default for eligible customers as part of its Winter '27 release, which became generally available on October 12, 2026. The change applies to organizations using Lightning Experience on Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, and Developer Editions. The rollout for existing customers began on a rolling basis in early September 2026 and comes at no additional cost.
The update removes the manual activation toggle administrators previously used. The AI platform is now enabled by default, shifting governance responsibilities to IT teams as part of Salesforce's broader AI push.
Administrators must manage user permissions for the active platform instead of first deciding whether to opt in. Default activation raises concerns about managing AI capabilities that are already switched on.
