Bristol Myers Squibb announced positive topline results from its pivotal Phase 3 trial of experimental drug admilparant in patients with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), a progressive lung-scarring disease. The study met its primary endpoint: the 60 mg dose significantly slowed lung-function decline compared with placebo. The result was measured over 52 weeks.
The trial also tested a 120 mg dose. It slowed lung-function decline but did not achieve statistical significance. Both doses had a favorable safety profile, with low discontinuation rates similar to placebo.
The results support admilparant’s potential as a first-in-class treatment. Bristol Myers Squibb plans to discuss next steps toward a possible regulatory filing with health authorities. The stock initially rose in premarket trading, then declined as investors assessed the mixed dose results.
