BMW has unveiled the eighth generation of its iconic 3 Series, including the first all-electric i3. The launch puts one of BMW’s most important models on its Neue Klasse platform, designed specifically for electric vehicles.

BMW will also offer gasoline-powered versions with 48V mild-hybrid technology. The i3 50 xDrive will use a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive system producing 463 horsepower. Its estimated range is up to 468 miles.

The Neue Klasse platform uses an 800-volt architecture. DC fast charging can add approximately 208 miles of range in 10 minutes.

U.S. deliveries are scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2027.
