Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (BMW) plans to reduce its divisions and senior management positions by 20% by mid-2027. The company announced the plan at its Capital Markets Day as part of a strategy to create a leaner, more agile organization.
The restructuring could affect around 100 senior positions, with most cuts expected at BMW’s headquarters in Munich. The plan builds on a staff-reduction initiative for white-collar employees in Germany that BMW announced in July.
BMW aims to use artificial intelligence to streamline operations and speed up decision-making. Chief Financial Officer Walter Mertl called AI a “game-changer” for improving development efficiency and creating leaner structures.
