Bayerische Motoren Werke AG will invest approximately €2 billion to prepare its German plants to produce the next-generation BMW 3 Series. The investment reinforces Germany’s role as a key manufacturing hub and reflects the model’s importance to BMW, whose brand it has helped define for more than five decades.
About €1 billion will go toward further developing the vehicle plants in Munich and Dingolfing. The plan also includes building a high-voltage battery assembly plant in Irlbach-Straßkirchen.
BMW said the investment reflects its commitment to electromobility and to bringing key technologies back to its home market. The company also emphasized value creation, competitive production and job security in Germany.
