BMW will begin production of a second Neue Klasse electric vehicle this fall at its Debrecen, Hungary, plant. Reports suggest this model will be the iX4. The Debrecen plant recently shifted to 24/7 operations. This move addresses high demand for the electric iX3. European orders for the iX3 have surpassed 100,000 units.

The Hungary expansion supports BMW's strategy to scale up its electric vehicle offerings. The iX4's introduction marks a significant step in the Neue Klasse offensive. This offensive will form the foundation of BMW's future EV lineup. The iX4 is an electric-only coupe-SUV. It indirectly replaces the discontinued combustion-engine X4.
