AstraZeneca PLC and Amgen Inc. announced positive results from a late-stage clinical trial for a combination lung cancer treatment. The study tested Imdelltra (tarlatamab) combined with AstraZeneca's Imfinzi (durvalumab) for patients with extensive-stage small-cell lung cancer.
The drug combination demonstrated a statistically significant improvement in overall survival. Researchers evaluated the therapy as a maintenance treatment for patients whose disease remained stable after initial standard therapy.
The combination also improved progression-free survival and objective response rates compared to Imfinzi monotherapy. No new safety concerns emerged during the trial.
