ASML Holding N.V. reported zero revenue from chip equipment sales in Europe during the second quarter of 2026. Vice President Frank Heemskerk described the results as truly concerning.
The company attributes the lack of sales to Europe's underinvestment in new chip manufacturing facilities. This trend contrasts with significant capital expenditures in Asia and the United States. While Europe maintains advanced technology, it lacks the production capacity required for ASML's sophisticated equipment.
South Korea, Taiwan, and China continue to drive the majority of ASML's sales. Separately, ASML launched operations in India with a team of engineers to support domestic semiconductor ambitions, specifically Tata Electronics' new fabrication plant.
