In its public S-1 filing for its upcoming IPO, AI safety and research company Anthropic warned that its public positions on AI safety and advocacy could make it “disproportionately or selectively targeted.”

The filing does not name former President Trump or his administration, but the context points to them. Anthropic cited risks including heightened scrutiny, political backlash and adverse regulatory actions that could affect its operations and partnerships.

As an example of potential government action, the filing cited the Department of Defense’s designation of Anthropic as a supply-chain risk.
