The Tanzanian government has renewed the Special Mining Licenses for Barrick Mining Corporation’s North Mara gold mine for an additional 15 years. The renewal supports continued long-term investment and operations under the mine’s existing partnership structure with the government.

Barrick has operated the North Mara and Bulyanhulu mines through the Twiga Minerals joint venture since taking over operations in 2019. The Tanzanian government holds a 16% interest in the venture, and the partners split economic benefits equally.

Barrick reports that it has invested approximately $5.3 billion in the Tanzanian economy since 2019 through taxes, salaries and local procurement.
