Barrick Gold reached a collective bargaining agreement with unions at its Loulo-Gounkoto gold complex in Mali, averting a planned strike set to begin September 28. The agreement was reached with unions representing workers at the Somilo and Gounkoto units, as well as a catering contractor.

The dispute centered on demands for overtime pay and expense reimbursements. The deal prevents a work stoppage at one of Barrick’s key assets, which is recovering from a prolonged dispute with Mali’s government that ended in late 2025.
