Prediction market platform Kalshi is seeking joint approval from the CFTC and SEC to launch perpetual futures for individual U.S. stocks. The initial proposal covers approximately 60 large-cap stocks and ETFs. Kalshi is targeting companies with market capitalizations exceeding $100 billion. Targeted assets include major market leaders such as Apple, Nvidia, and Tesla.

Perpetual futures lack an expiration date and are popular in cryptocurrency markets. These contracts are currently new to the regulated U.S. equities space. This move follows Kalshi’s recent launch of CFTC-regulated perpetual contracts for gold, silver, and cryptocurrencies.

The expansion faces expected scrutiny from regulators and opposition from firms like Citadel Securities and CME Group. Industry incumbents cite concerns regarding market oversight and potential systemic risks.
