Global tablet shipments fell 23% year over year in the third quarter of 2026, according to Omdia. Shipments totaled 32 million units, their lowest level in nearly three years. The market had declined 10% in the previous quarter, pointing to a deepening contraction.

Apple retained its lead, but iPad shipments fell 27.5%. The company shipped approximately 11.6 million units. Samsung shipments fell 22%, while Huawei shipments plunged 43%.

Analysts attributed the downturn to persistent supply constraints, which are limiting hardware innovation and prompting vendors to prioritize other device categories.
