Apple has filed a motion to overturn a $5.7 billion patent infringement verdict awarded to Taction Technology. The case concerns the Taptic Engine in iPhones and Apple Watches. Apple argues the verdict is not supported by substantial evidence and that the patents are invalid.

In its filing, Apple called the award “untethered to any evidence at all.” Apple described it as the largest patent verdict in U.S. history by more than $3 billion. The company has requested a new trial if the judge declines to overturn the jury’s decision.

Apple’s legal team was also in court for a high-stakes hearing in its trade secrets lawsuit against OpenAI.
