Apple is preparing to launch Apple Intelligence in China in December, following a significant regulatory delay. The initial rollout will include on-device AI features introduced in other markets in 2024. Chinese regulators have approved both Apple’s models and models from local partner Alibaba.

The launch will not include Apple’s revamped, more powerful Siri AI. China’s regulations require foreign companies to partner with local firms on services that use cloud-based generative models. Apple is working with Alibaba and may also partner with Baidu to support more advanced features in the future.
