Toyota is suspending operations at three plants in Japan’s southern Kyushu region through Friday. The decision follows a powerful 7.1-magnitude earthquake that damaged regional infrastructure and caused power outages.

The company halted work at its Miyata, Kanda, and Kokura facilities. This pause allows management to assess the impact on its supply chain and logistics network.

The Miyata plant serves as a primary production hub for Lexus luxury models. The Kanda and Kokura sites produce engines and hybrid powertrain units.

Toyota prioritized employee safety and the evaluation of regional suppliers in its decision.
