Four construction workers died following an accident at a Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC) site in Kaohsiung, southern Taiwan. The incident occurred Tuesday. Workers fell from a steel structure on the third floor of the company's Fab 22 site. A suspected bolt failure reportedly caused the fall.

TSMC suspended construction work at its Kaohsiung site. The company also halted similar steel structure work at other construction sites across Taiwan. These suspensions are pending a full investigation. TSMC's safety team cooperates with authorities and the contractor to determine the cause. The construction halt could impact future development schedules. The new fab is slated for advanced chip production.
