Samsung Electronics reported a record-breaking second quarter with an operating profit of 89.5 trillion won. This represents a 1,814% increase year-over-year. Total revenue reached 171.5 trillion won.

The semiconductor division drove the surge, generating 89.2 trillion won in profit. Unprecedented demand for AI server memory chips fueled this growth. Samsung achieved its highest-ever shipment volumes for both DRAM and NAND memory chips.

The consumer electronics and mobile unit reported an operating loss of approximately 800 billion won. Rising component costs pressured margins in these segments.

Samsung warned that the global memory chip shortage will intensify in 2027 and likely persist through 2028. The company is securing long-term supply agreements with major data center customers. These deals aim to manage sustained demand from expanding AI infrastructure.
