Samsung Electronics announced an investment of 12.26 trillion won ($9.15 billion) to expand its semiconductor operations. It will allocate nearly 8 trillion won to memory-chip testing facilities in Vietnam, where Samsung expects the first production line to begin operating in late 2027. The company will use the remaining funds to increase high-end production capacity in South Korea.
The investment will shift more conventional memory testing to Vietnam, allowing Samsung to dedicate more domestic capacity to advanced, higher-value products such as high-bandwidth memory (HBM). The strategy aligns with growing demand for high-performance chips from the AI sector.
