Samsung Electronics has initiated partial mass production at its new foundry in Taylor, Texas. The facility is manufacturing Tesla’s next-generation AI5 chips using a 2-nanometer process.
Surging demand for AI semiconductors moved the production timeline up from its original November start date. The facility’s utilization rate currently approaches 30%.
Samsung expects the plant to reach full capacity by the end of the year. Securing high-volume orders from Tesla strengthens Samsung’s position against market leader TSMC in the advanced node sector.
