Samsung Electronics’ foundry division aims to quadruple its customer base by 2029 compared with when the unit was established in 2017. A company executive announced the goal at the Korea Premium Week 2026 investor event.
Samsung expects high-performance computing (HPC) to account for 66% of foundry revenue by 2029. HPC accounted for 5% in 2017 and 28% currently.
The strategy shifts focus toward HPC and artificial intelligence (AI), away from the division’s traditional emphasis on mobile components. Samsung is seeking to capture a larger share of the growing market for advanced AI chips.
