Samsung Display has resumed construction of its A7 plant in Asan after a five-year halt. The facility will significantly expand production capacity for foldable OLED panels.

The decision follows record pre-orders for the Galaxy Z8 series and Apple’s anticipated entry into the foldable market. The global foldable display sector is projected to more than double in value by 2030.

The project is part of a 67 trillion won investment plan for display infrastructure. This long-term strategy extends through 2040 to develop next-generation OLED and micro-displays. Completion of the A7 plant framework is scheduled for early 2028.
