The U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) launched a patent infringement investigation into Samsung Electronics, Apple, and Google on September 16, 2026. The commission voted to initiate the probe following a complaint from California-based audio firm BoomCloud 360 Inc.

BoomCloud 360 alleges the companies violated Section 337 of the Tariff Act of 1930. The complaint claims the tech giants imported and sold products that infringe on specific audio-related patents.

The complainant requested a limited exclusion order and cease-and-desist orders. These measures could block the importation and sale of the specified Samsung, Apple, and Google devices in the United States. The ITC has not yet issued a decision on the merits of the case.
