Zoetis Inc. launched Portela (relfovetmab) commercially in Canada and the European Union. This product is the first long-acting anti-nerve growth factor (NGF) monoclonal antibody therapy for feline osteoarthritis (OA) pain.
A single subcutaneous injection provides up to three months of pain relief. Clinical trials showed the therapy is well-tolerated by patients.
European field studies demonstrated pain reduction as early as three days after the initial dose. The treatment targets NGF to manage this chronic and progressive disease.
