Elon Musk said in an early-morning post on X that Tesla will stop producing the Cybertruck around mid-2027. The company plans to repurpose production capacity at Gigafactory Texas for its forthcoming Cybercab robotaxi.
The move follows weak Cybertruck sales. Sales reportedly fell 48% in 2025 and reached a record low in the first quarter of 2026.
Tesla is shifting its focus from the niche electric-truck market to self-driving technology and autonomous ride-hailing services. The stock was up 1.95% in premarket trading after the announcement.
