TRISO-X, X-Energy's wholly-owned subsidiary, began the next construction phase for its TX-1 advanced nuclear fuel fabrication facility. The facility is located in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.

This phase includes constructing auxiliary buildings, building out the interior, and installing process and fuel fabrication equipment. Clark Construction Group remains the contractor for this stage.

The facility will be the first U.S. commercial plant dedicated to fabricating tristructural-isotropic (TRISO) fuel. It expects to produce 700,000 TRISO-X fuel pebbles annually. This output can power up to eleven X-energy Xe-100 advanced reactors.

The facility holds a 40-year Special Nuclear Material License from the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC).
