TRISO-X, a subsidiary of X-Energy Inc., acquired 70 acres for its Oak Ridge, Tennessee, nuclear fuel campus. The acquisition expands the site to 180 acres.

The expansion provides space for long-term growth. It accommodates equipment staging, fuel storage, and utility corridors for advanced nuclear fuel production.

This move follows a grant from the Tennessee Governor's Nuclear Energy Fund in July 2026.

The additional land supports planned facilities. These facilities include the TX-1 commercial facility, currently under construction. They also include a second larger production facility, TX-2, and a research and development lab, TX-L.

The development aims to establish domestic commercial-scale manufacturing for TRISO-X's proprietary fuel. This fuel is designed for X-energy's Xe-100 small modular reactors. The U.S. Department of Energy describes it as "the most robust nuclear fuel on earth."
