Welltower Inc. received approval from the UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) on Thursday for its acquisition of multiple care homes.
The CMA accepted undertakings from Welltower and partner Apex Healthcare Properties to bypass a more intensive Phase 2 investigation.
The acquisitions involve care homes managed by Barchester Healthcare, HC-One, Aria Care, and Danforth Care.
This regulatory clearance facilitates Welltower’s expansion in the United Kingdom and avoids potential delays from a prolonged probe.
