Websol Energy System Ltd relocated its planned 4-GW greenfield solar factory from Andhra Pradesh to West Bengal. The company currently awaits land approvals near its existing facility in Falta. This INR-30-billion expansion project maintains its original timeline and will proceed in phases.
West Bengal’s proposed industrial policy and national solar manufacturing opportunities drove the relocation. The move leverages the state's recent push toward industrialization.
Websol is also upgrading its existing 600 MW PERC cell line. The transition to 750 MW TOPCon technology is scheduled for completion by March 2027.
