Paramount streaming chief Cindy Holland is leaving the company ahead of the expected closing of its acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery. In a staff memo announcing her departure, Holland said the decision came as Paramount CEO David Ellison seeks to “optimize for HBO stability” in the next chapter for the combined companies.

Holland's exit clears the way for HBO Chairman and CEO Casey Bloys to lead the merged company's streaming services, which would include Paramount+, HBO Max and Pluto TV.

The leadership change is among the first major executive moves ahead of the deal's expected closing. It follows a settlement with 12 state attorneys general who had filed an antitrust lawsuit.
