Volkswagen unveiled the Mission Efficiency, a near-production electric concept car that established new world records for efficiency and aerodynamics. The vehicle features a drag coefficient of 0.158, a record for road-approved cars. It achieved a real-world energy consumption of 6.89 kWh per 100 kilometers, or approximately 9 miles per kWh, during a documented test drive.

The concept utilizes the affordable MEB+ platform intended for upcoming mass-market EVs like the ID. Polo. Its teardrop-shaped aerodynamic design draws inspiration from the earlier Volkswagen XL1 model. The car completed a 1,278-kilometer journey, or 794 miles, across Europe with only one charging stop.
