Viking Therapeutics has started a new exploratory study of oral maintenance dosing for its obesity drug candidate, VK2735. The study is part of a broader effort to test additional oral and subcutaneous dosing regimens for metabolic disorders. The company is exploring flexible, long-term treatment options as it competes in the obesity drug market.

Viking also reported that its two pivotal Phase 3 trials of subcutaneous VK2735, VANQUISH-1 and VANQUISH-2, are fully enrolled. The late-stage trials are central to the drug’s potential approval, and their efficacy and safety data will be closely watched.
