Vistance Networks subsidiary Aurora Networks announced that Comcast has begun field trials of its next-generation broadband node platform. The trial is a step in Comcast’s broader DOCSIS 4.0 rollout, which is designed to deliver multi-gigabit symmetrical speeds and improve network performance for residential and business customers.

Aurora Networks’ Unified DOCSIS 4.0 OptiMax OM6180 node supports both Full Duplex (FDX) and Extended Spectrum (ESD) DOCSIS 4.0. The flexibility is intended to help Comcast scale advanced network capabilities across its existing infrastructure. Comcast said the platform will integrate with its current FDX DOCSIS 4.0 deployments.

The field trial marks a milestone for Vistance Networks as Comcast advances its network. A successful trial followed by deployment could lead to substantial orders and strengthen Aurora Networks’ position as a supplier of next-generation cable network infrastructure.
