UniCredit launched a strategic collaboration with Accenture and IBM to develop a next-generation European banking platform. The partnership creates a new technology operating model to support growth across 13 markets using cloud, data, and AI. Under the agreement, Accenture will acquire the majority stake in the joint venture currently managing UniCredit's infrastructure from IBM.
Separately, UniCredit is advancing its acquisition of Commerzbank by seeking shareholder approval to convert derivative positions into shares. This move supports the bank's plan to take full control of the German lender. Commerzbank CEO Bettina Orlopp stated she is ready for constructive talks, acknowledging UniCredit’s leadership position.
