UniCredit is reportedly considering an acquisition of FinecoBank following its successful exchange offer for Germany’s Commerzbank. CEO Andrea Orcel intends to use the deal to strengthen the lender’s domestic market position.
FinecoBank has operated as a public company without a controlling shareholder since UniCredit sold its stake in 2019. The potential interest emerges as alternative domestic consolidation options for UniCredit continue to narrow.
FinecoBank shares rose 1.8% during the session following the market speculation.
