Unusual Machines, Inc. (UMAC), a drone-components manufacturer, has completed its acquisition of DroneNX LLC, which operates as Upgrade Energy, a U.S.-based maker of high-performance drone batteries. First announced in May 2026, the deal expands Unusual Machines’ portfolio beyond motors and headsets into power systems and strengthens the domestic drone supply chain.
Unusual Machines aims to combine Upgrade Energy’s battery expertise with its market presence to increase U.S. production and serve defense, enterprise, and consumer drone operators. Before the deal closed, the company began scaling production and hiring at Upgrade Energy’s 18,500-square-foot facility in Torrance, California. It has also announced plans for new battery-pack operations in Orlando, Florida.
