Uber and Chinese autonomous driving company Pony.ai plan to launch a robotaxi service in London, with testing expected to begin in the coming weeks. The service will use Pony.ai’s seventh-generation autonomous vehicles on Uber’s ride-hailing platform, advancing both companies’ European expansion plans.
The move adds to competition in London’s growing autonomous vehicle sector. Uber already partners with British startup Wayve.
The London initiative is part of a broader agreement announced in August. Uber and Pony.ai plan to deploy more than 2,000 robotaxis across five European cities, building on their existing commercial service in Zagreb.
