OpenAI has appointed Jill Hazelbaker, Uber's president and chief corporate affairs officer, to the newly created role of chief corporate affairs officer. She will oversee global communications, corporate positioning and efforts to build public trust as artificial intelligence's influence grows. Hazelbaker will report to OpenAI co-founder and President Greg Brockman.

Hazelbaker is leaving Uber after a decade at the company, where she helped navigate reputational and regulatory challenges. Her responsibilities had recently expanded to include human resources and real estate. She has also held senior roles at Snap and Google and worked on political campaigns, including John McCain's 2008 presidential run. The appointment comes as OpenAI faces growing scrutiny from policymakers worldwide.
