10x Genomics has begun the first commercial shipments of its Atera instrument, a spatial biology platform introduced in April 2026. Booked orders have already exceeded the 40 instruments the company expected to ship in 2026.

Atera is designed to give researchers whole-transcriptome analysis at subcellular resolution. It lets scientists study gene expression and cellular organization in intact tissue, potentially accelerating discoveries across disease areas.

Early adopters include The Allen Institute, the Wellcome Sanger Institute, and nearly all of the top 20 global biopharma companies.
